The Plate Trick

Do you know the “plate trick”?

 

If you have a problem with portion control, I highly recommend using smaller plates. It may seem silly and like it might not make a difference but it really does!

As you can see from these photos the exact same amount of food can either look like almost too much or like it’s not quite enough.

 

Having too much empty space on a plate can lead us to overfill our plate even if we aren’t that hungry. And then once it’s on the plate we feel like we need to “clean” our plate and eat everything on it.

 

If you find yourself feeling like you need to fill your plate with food, try out the “plate trick” and see if it helps you better manage portion size.
